Sump pumps have been in homes for years, but became a requirement in 1987 with the Federal Clean Water Act. It is very common to see sump pumps in newly constructed homes throughout the country.
By installing one of these pumps in the lowest part of your basement or crawlspace, you can prevent flooding and keep the area free from unwanted moisture. Most of the time the pump is installed in a custom-made sump pit. When water flows into the sump pit, the sump pump pumps the water away from your home, keeping you flood-free and dry.
